The Pontotoc County Bodock Association in conjunction with the Tupelo Bicycle Club presents the third annual Pontotoc “Tour de Bodock”, a metric century bicycle road ride.” The ride will be held Saturday August 15, 2009, (RAIN OR SHINE) at 8 am. Registration begins at 7 am. The ride will take you through rolling hills south and west of Pontotoc and through the Amish Community. The ride is held under a USA Cycling Event Permit. Two routes will be available - a 62+ mile metric century and a 37 mile ride. These routes will take you on surfaces ranging from well-paved roads with ample shoulders to lightly-traveled tar and chip county roads.
NEW ROUTE THIS YEAR. NEWLY PAVED ROADS. MUCH SMOOTHER OVERALL ROUTE (EXCEPT FOR AMISH COMMUNITY). We will be giving away a Redline Monocog 29r Single Speed Mountain bike this year! Also, there will be a band at registration for your listening enjoyment.
This is a tour and not a race. Plan to ride at a rate appropriate to your training and road conditions. There are some challenging hills on each route, so please be sure your bike is in good working order. There will be support vehicles monitoring the routes in case assistance is needed. Riders must wear helmets.
Cost: $25 if pre-registered, $30 day of ride. Each pre-registered participant will receive a t-shirt.
